I would like to thank Bonnie Heinzman for asking me to serve as your National Benefits chairperson for the 2008- 2009 year.  I am looking forward to working for you, the members, in trying to assist in understanding the benefits that we currently have and work toward obtaining new benefits as needed.

I also want to introduce you to your Area Benefits Chairs.  Your Area Chairs for the 2008-2009 year are:

I would like to thank this group for being willing to serve.  

Goals for the 2008-2009 year:

• Continue the work began by Becky Zirpel on obtaining a Sam’s Club Discount.  This is in the final stages.  Your benefits team will be getting word out to you the membership once this has been finalized and update you with the details.
• Support legislation that will allow credit for FERS Sick leave.
• Communication to inform membership what benefits are currently available and assist them in taking advantage of those benefits.

As a member, do yourself a great favor in taking the time to review and understand the benefits that are available to you.  Becky has done an excellent job in laying them out in a format that is easy to get an overview of what is available and then to dig in deeper to the content to find out the details of the benefit.  Of course if you have questions, please contact your area chairperson or myself.

Throughout the year, I will be sending updates through NASCOE Now articles and by updating the websites.  Your Area Chairs and I will be working to keep you informed of any updates or reminders.
