Legislative Update on FY 2023 Appropriations

NASCOE Legislative Committee Update
September 29, 2022
By Clint Bain and David McBryde
With the fiscal year ending on Friday, the House and Senate are working overtime to avoid any government shutdown. The Continuing Resolution (CR) being debated today would fund the government through December 16. This bill will allow both the U.S. House and Senate Appropriations Committees more time to hash out a broader deal for the rest of fiscal year 2023. The House is expected to vote on the Senate passed bill before Friday’s deadline. President Biden will immediately sign the bill.
The final legislation does not include Senator Joe Manchin’s permitting proposal. With this controversial language removed, we expect the bill will gain bipartisan support.
Background:
The NASCOE Legislative Committee will continue to closely monitor the CR and provide periodic updates.
